What Counts as a Referral?

The Conversion Log Entry includes the e-mail address for the person who made the purchase. The customer's email address is used to distinguish regular conversions from referral conversions. If the customer’s recorded e-mail address does not match the log entry’s e-mail address, then a referral is inferred. A customer can be wrongly credited with a referral if that customer has more than one e-mail address.

Note: The e-mail address can be used to identify the customer making the purchase if the cookies are missing or expired.
