There is no question mobile marketing is here to stay. For many consumers, their phone is never further than an arm’s reach away. However, that does not mean that you should take advantage of this proximity and keep their phone buzzing all day long. It is important to be respectful of customers’ communication preferences in order to build trusting relationships.
Begin with individual interests
Mobile app push messaging may seem like it would fall into the category of a disruptive marketing tactic. However, when done well it can create customized alerts based on an individual’s interest(s) and location to ensure you’re always having relevant conversations. Through the use of a persistent inbox, all of your brand’s notifications can be held inside your app. This feature allows you to choose whether to use push to interject your brand into the conversation, wait until the app is open, or both.
Retain your app users
AnyPresence’s research report “The State of Enterprise Mobile Readiness 2013”, found that 25% of respondents spend over $100,000 on average for the initial development of an enterprise mobile app. Whether you spend $10K or $100K, substantial resources are invested to both build, and promote, an app. Therefore, it is critical that you retain app users and convert them into loyal customers. Push notifications have been shown to increase mobile application-user retention rates and significantly boost engagement.
