The Repository

A repository contains metadata; namely, information about your source and target databases (including mapping definitions, target definitions, and source definitions), and instructions on how and when to move information between them. This database can be backed up and stored as a file and then restored later as needed. Connect supplies a repository in file form that customers can restore into a repository database.

To administer the repository, you use Informatica’s Repository Manager.

To start the Repository Manager, open the Start menu on your desktop and choose Programs, Informatica, Repository Manager.

The available repositories appear in a pane on the left side of the Repository Manager window. The repository is named KC_REPO. Within KC_REPO are three folders:

Select the appropriate folder for your Connect database. If you are using Active_Email_Address as the primary key in your Connect database, then use the BlackBox_Email folder. If you are using Alt_Customer_ID (that is, an alternate customer id) as the primary key in your Connect database, then use the BlackBox_Alt folder. The folder you choose will contain mappings that load data using the proper primary key.

The Client_Blackbox folder contains mappings that are used by consultants as a reference during the initial implementation of Informatica.
