SMS messages need to have a sender. Though Connect sends the customer a message, Connect
purposely does not have an email address. Any message should come from the company
creating the campaign. One of the features you need to set up is a sender address for
SMS messages and for email messages.
The Senders tab appears when you save the infomation on the Profile tab or when you chose
Actions > Edit on the SMPP screen.
Add Senders
Follow these directions to add a new sender.
- From the SMPP Senders screen, click Commands > New SMPP
Sender. The Enter SMS sender information screen appears.
- In the Sender Address field, type the appropriate address.
- In the Type of Number (TON) field, type the code for the number. For
example, a TON code can identify an interntional number or national
number. TON codes include the following: (Source ETSI GSM 03.40 specification)
- Unknown = 0
- International = 1
- National = 2
- Network Specific = 3
- Subscriber Number = 4
- Alphanumeric = 5
- Abbreviated = 6
- In the Number Plan Indicator (NPI) field, type the number plan
indicator for the SMS number. The NPI identifies the type of number such as
mobile or landline.
- In the Description field, type a description for the SMPP
sender.
- Click the Save button. The SMPP Senders screen appears with
the new sender.
Edit Senders
Follow these directions to modify sender information.
- From the SMPP Senders screen, click Actions > Edit beside the
sender you want to edit. The Enter SMS sender information screen
appears.
- Make your changes.
- Click the Save button. The New SMPP Sender screen
appears.
Delete Senders
Follow these directions to remove a sender.
- From the SMPP Senders screen, click Actions > Delete beside
the sender you want to remove. A confirmation box appears.
- In the confirmation box, click OK. The sender is removed from the
list.
