Connect provides the ability to identify and target SMS recipients and wireless domains requiring short text content. This feature enables the administrator to maintain a list of SMS aggregators and wireless domains requiring short text content (text content with up to 160 characters). Users define the short text content to send to the recipients.
Workflow Details
The following diagram illustrates the Connect SMPP Architecture.
The following steps provide a high level overview of how SMPP works.
- Define or import a list of wireless domains (Admin > System Configuration > Wireless Domains).
- Create or update SMS/Wireless domain customers using Connect or
Informatica. Note: SMS recipients and wireless domains users who requirie short text messages must be stored in Connect using the following e-mail address format: <phone_number>@<domain>, where <domain> is either the SMS Aggregator used in Connect or the wireless domain (for instance, [email protected] or [email protected]).
- Create a campaign with short text or other content types as appropriate.
- Connect (Conversation Manager) processes the launched campaign.
- Connect (Conversation Manager) determines the content type to send to each customer.
- Connect (Mail Sender) prepares the message content.
- Connect (Mail Sender) sends the e-mail message to the appropriate domain.
- The SMS or e-mail messages are delivered.
