Edwards Deming and name it Kaizen (positive change), the process of creating a steadfast system with the sole purpose of improving a product is abundant in today’s marketplace. It is seen in the processes of Agile software development, Lean Manufacturing, and Total Quality Management (TQM).

The idea of continuous improvement is not new; consumers expect a flawed product (e.g. Microsoft’s Vista) will be fixed in its next generation. This is easy to understand in theory. However, carrying it out can be difficult, and requires a corporate culture that balances responsiveness and innovation with discipline and dedication.

We recently made a few upgrades for CONNECT 10r5.1 based on a combination of customer feedback, internal reviews, and market trends. The result reveals how Brick Street Software strives to serve its customers.

1. Listen to understand

When two separate departments from a large financial institution asked us to include mobile app push capabilities to meet their customer needs for stock quotes and alert notifications, we said yes! During the project discovery phase, we learned the bank did not want to use an additional messaging platform just for mobile apps. Instead, they needed a single piece of software that marketing professionals and IT developers were already familiar with, met security specifications, and was backed by a highly-responsive technical service team they trusted. After the custom programming to CONNECT was completed, the bank was thrilled with additional messaging proficiencies and quick adoption. We are proud to now provide the ability to conduct mobile app push for all CONNECT users.

2. Demonstrate comprehension

Marketers and IT professionals tell us (either verbally or by their actions) that they’re rushing to keep up with their assignments, and are working more hours than there are in a day. Their reaction to this work environment is to multi-task during meetings, juggle several projects at once and extend deadlines. The problem is that as multitaskers flip between projects, they are actually working harder, becoming less efficient and missing performance goals. And this causes additional stress, triggering the vicious cycle to start over.

With CONNECT 10r5.1, we simplified the user experience. Don’t worry- the flexibility to create complex campaigns remains, but the number of entries required to send a message has been reduced by 80 percent in some cases. Our aim is to make marketers and IT professionals more efficient and effective for their organizations.

3. Anticipate future needs

In a relatively short amount of time, businesses have gone from mass marketing through mediums of television, newspaper, and trade journals to reaching on-the-go consumers with in-store placements, outdoor advertisements and mobile apps. As a result, audiences’ communication channels are fragmented, and customer expectations have risen to the point in which they determine how, when and where they interact with an organization. Marketing and IT departments have kept up by using a variety of digital tools. However, the focus is shifting from individual tactic metrics to overall engagement metrics. Across the globe, enterprises desire a single and scalable platform to uncover the total time an individual spends with a brand.

With the addition of the mobile app push capability (Android and iOS), CONNECT is the answer. Now with CONNECT’s existing programming, organizations can send integrated multichannel drip, event triggered, or re-engagement marketing campaigns using a combination of mobile push, email, SMS, voice, or fax.

Help wanted

We are proud and pleased to have met our deadline and shipped CONNECT 10r5.1 out the door. Enthused, we will now begin Connect’s next iteration and we need your input. Please share with us your challenges, programming requirements, and opportunities for you to increase your productivity in sending relevant communications.
